ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2016: Quarter Final (for Ind and Aus)

Finally, India has made it to the semis of 2016 T20 Cricket World Cup. Virat has made it possible with the help of Yuvaraj and M. S. Dhoni. Of course bowlers also did well today to restrict Australia to 160 on the batting track especially for the team batting first.

The reason for me to write today is Virat has done it consistently in this tournament and made it possible for India to reach semis. However I feel in these past three victories India has bagged, India may tend to oversee failures in the batting department. Rohit Sharma has failed consistently, although he looked today very composed and willing to contribute, given that Shikhar had gone out early Rohit could have tried to hang on there for little long. Yuvi did put up decent performance of 21 in 18 balls despite his ankle-sprain injury. Raina has failed consistently. There are two players I believe India could have used best to its advantage viz. Ajinkya Rahane and Harbhajan Singh. I believe having Ajinkya in place of Suresh Raina would make middle order more reliable and ease a pressure on Virat as well as Yuvaraj. Having Harbhajan in 11 would be an advantage, because he is a genuine off-spinner and can turn the ball considerably, putting batsman little bit more in trouble to make shots, besides he is a useful batsman and proven pinch-hitter. Most pitches witnessed in this tournament are turning except one or two. Having Harbhajan on Kolakata track would have made more difference for sure. Now Yuvaraj being injured selectors would be forced to chose Ajinkya Rahane but for me the best 11 could have been different.

I wish India to win another T20 World Cup championship this year.
